Another reason why the Academy Awards are a joke: BLUE VALENTINE. Ten pictures nominated, this one didn’t make the cut. Sorry all you BLACK SWAN, TRUE GRIT, and 127 HOURS lovers, BLUE should have taken one of those slots. A heartbreaking story about the birth and death of a marriage, it feels real from the courtship to the split. Ryan Gosling was ignored by the Academy because voters must have had their heads up a certain body part but Michelle Williams deservedly got a nod. Valentine really is  something special. Moving and cutting, it really does break your heart.
